Frequently Asked
Questions

MIP Internship

How many times a year do we run intern classes?

Generally three times a year, depending on our recruitment needs.

When does the opportunity expire?

It doesn’t expire. We test and interview throughout the year so that we always have good candidates when we need them.

Is there an age limit?

Candidates between the ages of 17 and 32 can apply.

Is there a minimum qualification required?

Candidates must have a minimum of a Matric certificate to apply.

Do I need a RSA ID number and document to apply?

The opportunity is open to South African citizens and you will need to produce your RSA ID to apply.

What happens if I fail an assessment? Can I re-try later?

Unfortunately not.

What should I bring along to the assessment?

You do not need to bring anything along. We will provide all you need.

Do I need a calculator or cell phone for the assessment?

Any calculator or cell phone will be removed before you sit the assessment.

How do I prepare for the assessments?

Absolutely no preparation is required. Our assessments test your inherent ability, and not your learning or preparation.

Where are the assessments held?

Once you have completed the online Intern Challenge you will be invited for the first assessment held an our offices in either Bryanston, Johannesburg or Century City, Cape Town only. If you pass this, you will be invited to an assessment in Rosebank, Johannesburg. There are no other sites at which these assessments are held.

How long will I wait to hear if I will be doing an in-person assessment?

It depends on how long the list of applications is. Some months we have thousands of applications, and we request your patience to get through them.

Will it help to email or phone the company to speed up my application.

Unfortunately not. We start with the strongest applicants first, and then work our way down the list.

How can I prepare for the interview?

Relax, dress neatly and professionally (suits and ties are not required). Ensure you are early for your interview. Answer the questions that you are asked openly and honestly. Do not prepare a speech that you give regardless of the question you have been asked.

What documents will I need to send to MIP prior to the interview?

Your RSA ID, your Matric Certificate, your CV, and transcripts of any studies you have started,

If I have started tertiary studies but have not completed them, will I be excluded from the internship?

No, we are looking at your aptitude, not your success at a tertiary institution.

Do I need work experience to apply?

You do not, but if you have any, include it on your CV.

How will I know if I have been successful and accepted on the internship?

MIP will contact you with an offer.

How long will I wait to hear that I have been successful in the interview?

This is a tricky question. Depending on our recruitment needs at the time, we take a limited number of candidates onto the internship. If you have performed well in all tests and in the interviews, we will keep your name on a short-list for future classes. We look for the best candidates at the time, and we cannot anticipate how good a future candidate might be and whether they may be higher or lower on the short-list than you are.

Do you give candidates an idea in the interview of how they have performed?

We do. Some candidates are told in the interview that they have done really well, or are not well suited to the opportunity. You may ask for this feedback.

Is there any advice you can give potential candidates?

Be prepared to speak from the heart and be genuine so that your real nature and personality can emerge. Work hard, before you apply, to improve your written and spoken English. If your competence level of English is basic you will not shine.

What do I do if I have completed the online game but not heard back from MIP?

Check your Junk mail. MIP’s email may be sent to Junk mail so please check this.

Remember also that we are dealing with thousands of applications so please be patient. We will get to you when we can.
